STAGE TUBE: Cirque du Soleil Brings KA Battle to Comic-Con 2011

The final battle from Cirque du Soleil's hit Las Vegas show KA was played out on the wall of Petco Park during the opening night of San Diego Comic-Con 2011. BroadwayWorld's Audra Stafford spoke to the artists and artistic director about the first-of-its-kind performance. Click below for the spot!

KA by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas made its first appearance at Comic-Con on opening night, Thursday, July 21st, with a dramatic showdown on the outside walls of PETCO Park in San Diego. This outdoor performance took place directly across the street from the San Diego Convention Center and included a display of dazzling 3-D projections. Created especially for Comic-Con, the performance told the adventurous tale of KA by turning the stadium facade into an interactive performance space featuring 3-D projections and live artists.

The audience got a bird's-eye view of a fierce battle pitting the Imperial Twins of KA and their allies against an enemy warrior tribe as the scene plays out on the surface of a 90-foot high vertical stage.

AD X MEDIA, one of the world's leading providers of large-scale indoor and outdoor mixed media projections, provided the technology for the 3-D projection elements of the performance.
