Orleans Arena Hosts 105.7 The Oasis Valentine's Love Affair, 2/11

Orleans-Arena-Hosts-1057-The-Oasis-Valentines-Love-Affair-211-20010101

Celebrated rhythm and blues, soul and funk acts from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s will perform some of their best-loved hits at 105.7 The Oasis Valentine’s Love Affair at the Orleans Arena on Saturday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Performing at this year’s event are The Manhattans, Heatwave, GQ, The Moments, Billy Paul, Gene Chandler, Barbara Mason, El Chicano and Ray, Goodman & Brown.

The Manhattans are perhaps best-known for their most popular love songs, including “Shining Star” and their No.1 hit from 1976, “Kiss and Say Good-Bye.”

Funk/disco band Heatwave had three hit songs in the ‘70s: “Boogie Nights,” “Always and Forever” and “The Groove Line.”

In 1979, GQ charted two Top 10 R&B and Top 20 pop hits, including the No. 1 R&B single, “Disco Nights (Rock-Freak).”

The Moments released more than 30 singles from the late ‘60s to the early ‘80s and are best-known for the hit songs “Love on a Two Way Street,” “Sexy Mama” and “Look at Me (I’m in Love).”

In 1973, Billy Paul won the Grammy® Award for “Best Male R&B Vocal Performance” for his hit song, “Me and Mrs. Jones.”

Gene “The Duke” Chandler’s is widely recognized for his hit single, “Duke of Earl,” which was inducted into the Grammy® Hall of Fame in 2002.

Singer-songwriter Barbara Mason’s 1965 hit “Yes, I’m Ready” reached the top ten on the R&B and pop charts and was followed up with two other hits, “Sad, Sad Girl” and “Oh How It Hurts.”

El Chicano’s first hit, “Viva Tirado,” was a jazzy-soul rendition of Gerald William’s original song about a bullfighter and was followed up with another hit, “Tell Her She’s Lovely.”

Formed in the mid-1960s, Ray, Goodman & Brown is best-known for the 1980 hit, “Special Lady,” which reached No. 1 on the R&B chart early that year.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available starting at $25 and can be purchased by calling the Orleans Arena Box Office at 702.284.7777 or by visiting www.orleansarena.com.
