Nominations Open for 2010 BroadwayWorld Las Vegas Awards

BroadwayWorld, the largest theater site on the web, is announcing that it is launching a new set of theater awards for the Las Vegas theater community, to be presented in January 2011.

The awards will recognize excellence, as voted by the fans of Las Vegas theater, and will encompass all of the various forms and sizes of theater in the area, from tours to resident productions, large to small, play, musical, comedy shows, hotels attractions and revues. And BroadwayWorld's Nashville-based team will be directly involved in the administration of the awards process.

Awards will be given in 25 categories, and nominations are being solicited now .

Nominations will close on November 30, 2010, and the slate of nominations will be announced in. Online voting by fans will occur December 1 - January 3, 2011, and the winners will be announced in mid-January.

Here are the award categories:

1. Best Broadway/book musical
2. Best performance by a lead actor in a musical
3. Best performance by a lead actress in a musical
4. Best performance by a featured actor in a musical
5. Best performance by a featured actress in a musical
6. Best Resident Show
7. Best Performer in a Resident Show
8. Best choreography in a Strip show
9. Best Spectacle Show
10. Best off-Strip performance in a play
11. Best Local Show
12. Best concert
13. Best hotel architecture - non-theme
14. Best theme hotel architecture
15. Best museum or attraction
16. Theater of the Year
17. Best Band
18. Concert Venue of the Year
19. Best Nightclub
20. Best DJ
21. Best Male Comedian
22. Best Female Comedian
23. Best Comedy Club
24. Best Impersonator
25. Best Free Attraction
